Oracle Dba/Database Administrator - LEEDS - GBP50K to GBP55K
GBP50K to GBP55K plus 10% bonus
Transition Partners are recruiting for a Oracle DBA/Database Administrator for a market leading company in Leeds to work in their Data Team. They are offering an extremely exciting opportunity to work for one of the UK's Number 1 market leader within their Industry, they are a forward thinking, innovative company leading the way into the Leeds Technology Innovation Hub.
Key skills and experience required:
- Previous Oracle DBA experience in a production environment
- Worked in a Unix and/or Linux environment
- Writing/debugging/testing and tuning SQL and PL/SQL
- Database, application and operating system performance tuning and monitoring
- Usage and deployment of Oracle technologies, ASM, 12c Cloud Control, RMAN, Partitioning, Data Guard, etc.) in a production environment
- Knowledge of Oracle ETL processes and data warehouse maintenance operations desirable
- Agile
- Experience of database modelling, using modelling tools and understanding of the development life cycle
- Knowledge of NoSQL/Cassandra/Hadoop desirable
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Proactively manage database issues and problems within Oracle and DB2 database platforms (DB2 desirable)
- Act as a source of database knowledge, to advise and direct colleagues in the Data Services Team, Developers and the Service delivery team in this technology
- Ability to work within a team environment and communicate effectively with others
- Provide accurate and timely information to the Project Manager/Team Leader(s) on own work schedule
- Help to define and adhere to appropriate database standards
- Perform pro-active database health monitoring/diagnostics and able to implement monitoring, auditing and alert systems for Oracle databases
- Perform capacity planning exercises to properly identify required hardware, software, database configuration/architecture necessary to support application needs
- On call rota support (1 week in 7 approx.)
