Our client is a in the process of GBP250 million development and is seeking a financial accountant to join them in an exciting period of growth. This is a permanent position based in east Kent with a salary paying in the region of GBP45k - GBP50k plus incentives.

As a Project Accountant, you will be reporting to Financial Controller, and working with a project team, major contractors and the Finance Director and your main duties will be:

• Monitor, analyse and report on the capital costs incurred by the business and its subsidiaries with particular reference to the DWDR project.
• Analyse the business case for options and variations relating to the DWDR project.
• Report in a timely manner on grant submissions ensuring compliance with the legislation and maximising cash flows, including liaising with funding bodies in the EU and the Port of Calais.
• Produce weekly cash flows for all project related spend ensuring that contractor certificates are in order, that invoices have the correct detail for reporting purposes and are paid according to the contract.
• Carry out analysis for identified projects to determine project viability and to share knowledge across teams to improve business performance, assessing opportunities and risks from those projects. Analysis includes validating the project/initiative by using investment appraisal techniques and prioritising projects by potential added value.
• To be responsible for the tax planning opportunities and to work with the Finance team and external tax advisors to mitigate tax exposure as appropriate.

To be successful as a Project Manager you will have the following skills and experience:

• ACA, CIMA or ACCA qualified.
• Previous PQE.
• Up to date knowledge of technical accounting issues and regulations.
• Use of computerised accounting systems and desktop applications.
• Advanced Excel and Word.
• Ability to produce and interpret investment appraisals.
• An excellent commercial sense, with the ability to analyse information from different sources, and make informed business decisions.
• Results orientated approach - focused on achieving measurable benefits for the organisation
• Demonstrate capability of influencing stakeholders and the ability to challenge the status quo.
• Will have the ability to convert theoretical knowledge and apply it to practical situations within the business in order for the business to achieve its aims.
• Highly organised, analytical, logical and numerical, with the ability to work without supervision at times.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail, together with ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and develop enhanced internal controls.
• Self-motivated, driven, conscientious and persistent.
• Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload, meet deadlines and delivery first-class customer service.
• To develop the role by learning new skills and show a willingness to be flexible at all times.
