Digital Content Producer
This Unitary authority are undergoing a huge 3 year digital transformation programme, identifying opportunities to improve the user experience of their online offer, better meet the needs of users and make services more efficient.
They are creating new transactions and information in their new content management system, Umbraco, making the user journey simpler, clearer and faster for customers.
To successfully implement this programme, they need experienced content designers who understand the web, technology and people.
They want to create digital services that people prefer to use, instead of other more expensive customer contact channels. You, as content designer will need to be user-focussed and know how to write with a user, not a client/department, in mind first and foremost.
You'll work with other content designers as well as technical, service design and user research colleagues, to write user focussed accessible content for their online channels.
You'll use customer insight to understand how customers are currently using their websites. Then take that and the existing content to identify content gaps, blockers and overlaps. You'll run workshops with colleagues across the business to identify and agree new content that meets user-focussed approach, mapping content to different formats and audiences.
Scoping, commissioning, writing, editing and publishing digital content, with an excellent understanding of user-focussed, mobile-first approach.
Making sure customer journeys are the best they can be
accountable for delivering content assets that are accurate, timely, high-quality (based on insight and outputs of user testing, relevant to audience, easily understood, SEO optimised) and to the council's style
Accountable for choosing the best format for displaying information to the user - if they don't have one, they'll want you to suggest ideas or identify the gap
Making sure appropriate policy and legal checking within other parts of the council happens, and that content is published quickly and efficiently
Extensive experience of writing for the web, with proven ability of creating content that is accessible and usable
Experience in producing content for a responsively-designed website and producing content which adheres to WCAG AA web accessibility standards
Excellent skills in convincing people that user needs and a usable approach is the only way to present information
Experience of working in an Agile environment, including sprints, stand ups and show and tells.
Identifying hidden or emerging issues and proposing decisive strategic action
Probing evidence to identify strategic trends and links
Analysing evidence from diverse sources to generate robust solutions and make timely decisions
