Modules Project Manager - Integrated Photonics

KEY PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Required to provide program management for module development within the Integrated photonics R&D team. This team develops high performance modules for high bit rate optical communication systems based on internally supplied chips and packages.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management of new module products through their development phase and in to manufacture.

  • Work closely with technical leads on programmes to develop, maintain and drive execution of plans for new module development

  • Liaise with chip and optical package development teams to lock infeed plans

  • Work with module development teams to ensure that products are developed in a structured manner

  • Work with pilot line and manufacturing operations to ensure that capabilities are generated to roll out new products on time and to cost targets

  • Drive development and coordination of functions in line with the defined product life cycle process

  • Monitor project progress and report regularly to senior management

Note that this role does not have require direct line management of people but requires influence across multiple geographically dispersed functions

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Delivery of new products into manufacturing on time and to defined specification and cost

  • Well structured, cross functional plans that are clearly communicated

Products developed according to the defined product life cycle (gate) process

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience of project management in an electronics/optoelectronics field

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Essential:

  • Broad technical understanding - A degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience

  • MS Project

  • Experience of New Product Introduction, managing products from small scale prototype builds to volume manufacturing.

Desirable:

  • Experience of Product Lifecycle Management software eg Agile

A minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant role
