We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Legal Counsel to join our In House Counsel team in Lichfield.

This role sits within the Legal & Secretariat team and assists the business in its day to day activities and strategic initiatives, ensuring legal risk is understood, that business aims are achieved and that the overall position of Police Mutual Group is safeguarded.

The role involves working closely with colleagues in business and support functions on contract negotiation, customer product documentation, operational procedures & queries, transactional and problem solving work.

Within this role you will???
•Provide a comprehensive legal service to the Police Mutual Group which includes legal advice, representation, technical expertise, documentation drafting and negotiation to ensure the Police Mutual Group fulfils its vision and goals within its risk appetite
•Work on strategic projects including helping to assess options, feasibility and risk as part of understanding the contractual and legal issues
•Work closely with the business in negotiating contracts with other financial services providers
•Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of contractual documentation across the Group
•Ensure product literature is legally compliant and that associated operational procedures reflect the legal position

You will bring with you???
•A pragmatic and approachable manner with strong attention to detail and commercial judgement
•Solicitor qualified in England and Wales with up to 2+PQ
•Demonstrable solid experience in the area of contract law, with a proven track record working in a fast paced and dynamic environment
•Substantive knowledge of and experience in contract drafting and negotiating skills in commercial contracts
•An understanding of UK Retail Financial Services and FCA regulation over products and services essential
•Strong personal organisational skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise conflicting demands
•The ability to find relevant legislation, case law and/or regulation to support recommendations
