My client is looking to recruit for a subsidiary company, a Director of Finance to concentrate on the manufacturing costs and processes of a GBP20+m t/o growing company with a very busy order book.

Each product for them is individual and every item they build has different spec so product knowledge and costing stock control will be the focus of your attention

You will also be expected to have financial control, commercial skills and be profit orientated for the subsidiary.

You need to essentially be a solid subsidiary company manufacturing accountant with solid proven computer & standard costing experience.

The Role:

Reporting to the Group MD and Deputy Chairman the role is very much "hands on".

The main focus of the role is to ensure robust, accurate and timely accounting within the company.

Areas of responsibility:

* Ensure that rigorous control on the direct production costs of the business and corrective action is initiated where appropriate
* Review/revise the reporting systems to provide budgets, cash flow and other key financial information to the Management team
* Provide strong commercial support for the creditor and debtor management. This will include supporting colleagues to improve commercial relationships with key customers and suppliers
* Oversee/prepare monthly management accounts coverings sales reports, margin and other matters
* On-going credit control decisions
* Cash flow monitoring and control
* Oversee payroll preparation and ancillary matters
* Oversee/check VAT returns and other related returns
* Prepare year end papers for the external auditors - including draft accounts, supporting schedules and analyses.
* Check that costs within the manufacturing system reflect the correct cost to the business and are revised where appropriate.
* Other projects or matters pertaining to the financial records of the company

Additional Information:

My client is also currently installing a new ERP System and the Director of Finance is expected to be heavily involved in this as it is the cornerstone to the matters listed above.

System controls should be instigated to maintain the integrity of the financial records and the related stock records. This will require close co-operation with the Director of Manufacturing and other colleagues.

Whilst experience of the specific package being acquired is not essential it would be preferable if the candidate had, in previous roles, experience of implementation or upgrading of computer packages.

Candidate Profile:

Individuals will ideally be professionally qualified and will have experience of commercial matters and capable of analysing and managing risk. Capable of providing effective leadership and able to command respect from colleagues as well as being influential and being pro-active in resolving a range of issues arising which can crop up unexpectedly.

Candidates will have experience of controlling and directing in a senior accounting role. They will have experience of a similar sized business and complexity and preferably within a manufacturing company or group.
