Robert Half are working in partnership with Higgidy Pies on an exclusive and retained basis to recruit a new Financial Controller.

Based in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex this role is offering the chance to join an exceptional business in the next stage of their evolution.

The Role

The successful Financial Controller will manage the finance function, be integral in its evolution as the business grows as well as playing a crucial role on the senior management team. The role will also specifically support the Operations functions to develop and understand the key financial performance of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Support and Challenge - working with the Marketing & Commercial Teams using robust & insightful analysis for commercial decision making.

Robust Control Environment - develop an appropriate control environment the can work with the business now and can scale as Higgidy continues its rapid growth.

Dynamic Information - drive the financial management reporting capability of the business to ensure relevant, useful, focused and timely analysis and recommendations.

Business Accountability - help the business to build budgets & forecasts, and manage performance against them.

Intelligent Strategy - play a critical role in the senior management team with specific focus delivering the business plans.

Your Profile

The successful Financial Controller will be a qualified accountant (big 4 preference) and have a strong academic background. Exposure to working within a Food FMCG and Manufacturing business would be advantageous. The ability to really influence change within the business is key, other transferable sectors may include Retail.

This role would ideally suit someone who is looking to take a step forward in their career, someone who has relevant experience of working in a successful finance function, and is now ready to take on the challenge of elevating finance within in Higgidy. You will be critical in shaping the future of the function so being excited about working in the food industry, a willingness to roll up your sleeves and identifying with the wider values of the Higgidy business is vital.

Culturally this would suit a bright minded individual who has the ability to influence and communicate at all levels. This role will involve managing cross-functional relationships across a tight-knit entrepreneurial business.

The Company

In 13 years, the Higgidy Pies brand has grown from a kitchen start up to a circa GBP24M turnover food manufacturer and one of the fastest growing food brands in the chilled supermarket aisles. They employ just over 300 people and make up to 400,000 pies, quiches and sausage rolls in a week, which are sold all over the British Isles. Despite what has been achieved already, they are more excited about the future and have a vision to establish an enduring, iconic British food brand. Over the next 5 years they have a plan to more than double the size of their operation while remaining dedicated to their core purpose of putting "Heart into Food & Soul into Business". In order to achieve this vision, they are creating a new position of Commercial Finance Manager and are looking for a dynamic, commercial focussed financial mind to join the Finance Team and play a crucial role in the future of the business.
