IT Infrastructure Manager - FMCG - North West London - Permanent

We are a leading and rapidly expanding fast moving consumer goods business based in North West London and are looking for an IT Infrastructure Manager to join us on a permanent basis. As an organisation we employ around 250 people and have annual turnovers in excess of GBP190 Million.

The successful candidate will manage a desktop support analyst who looks after the 1st/2nd line. Therefore you'll be responsible for 3rd line support and you may have to chip in on the desktop side from time to time. However the successful candidate will also be the most senior member of the IT department and look after infrastructure strategy/ design & project implementation.

  • Someone who has/ is managing a small team but has still remained very hands on
  • A technically strong infrastructure engineer looking to make the step up into management

Responsibilities include:

Infrastructure planning
  • Lead IT infrastructure strategy and planning
  • Define hardware-related best practices
  • Design cost-optimisation measures
  • Ensure innovation, efficiency and constant improvement
  • Design and develop service delivery standards and procedures for the enterprise

Data and IT operations
  • Monitor the efficiency of the data centre operations
  • Oversee the server (physical and virtual) environments
  • Design, implement and regularly test BC/DR plans
  • Manage backup and recovery of data
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation is maintained

Network and connectivity
  • Validate the WAN design and implementation, monitor the performance and stability
  • Manage Active Directory (users, groups, policies, et al)
  • Maintain Cisco LAN and Wi-Fi network and performance
  • Liaise with all parties involved in the provision of the networking services
  • Manage company firewalls -

  • Manage day-to-day relationship with infrastructure managed service provider
  • Work with HR and the management team to plan and deliver user IT requirements
  • Manage processes for refreshing and disposing of assets
  • Design and implement processes to improve quality and speed of IT support to users
  • Work with CFO to plan future infrastructure investments to support business expansion

Policies and metrics
  • Design all infrastructure related policies and procedures to be followed by the IT team
  • Manage infrastructure key service providers and associated contracts and SLAs
  • Ensure delivery of infrastructure service SLAs to IT customers

Experience required:

Strong hands and technical knowledge in the majority of the following areas:
  • WAN, LAN, MPLS, VOIP, VMware, VEEAM, Data Storage, IIS, Phone systems, BES, Citrix, AD, Exchange, ITIL
  • ExperienceManaging a small team would be beneficial
  • Experience managing Microsoft based systems, applications and services
  • Able to demonstrate working experience of infrastructure design, good operations practice, change control, contract negotiation and monitoring
  • Ability to build relationships with managed services partners and obtaining SLA delivery
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
