Deputy Director Strategy, Policy Development, Planning and Resourcing, Office of the Public Guardian
The Office of the public Guardian (OPG) has an important role to play. We protect people in England and Wales who may not have the mental capacity to make decisions for themselves, such as about their health and finance. We also help people plan ahead for someone to make certain important decisions for them, should they become unable to do so because they lack mental capacity. The OPG is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Justice, with a committed team of over 1100 staff who are located across multiple sites in Birmingham, London and Nottingham.
We are looking for an outstanding leader who will ensure that the OPG, through its operational model, is enabled and supported to deliver its strategic objectives and meet the needs of its users. As part the senior team, you will provide strategies and advice to the Public Guardian and OPG Chief Executive that enable him to exercise his statutory duties. You will implement the strategies, plans and frameworks needed to deliver a range of support services that underpin OPG delivery and help it achieve its organisational objectives.
To be successful in this post you will have a strong track record of leading a diverse team to deliver a range of support services through a complex operational model. You will be a visible leader, able to motivate and develop your teams to create a high performing, inclusive culture. You will have the ability to build strong partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders and the gravitas and credibility to command the confidence, commitment and energy of people at all levels, including the most senior levels.
