Accountant - NHS

I have a fantastic opportunity with NHS England for a Accountant based in London. This role is a temporary assignment for initially 3 months, Monday to Friday and full time 37.5 hours a week. There is a view for this role to be extended.

Accountant - NHS - Job Purpose

* To provide a high level insight in Payment by Results (PbR) rules and Reference Costs guidance and how this is affected by activity case mix, including supporting the development of PbR tariffs taking a lead for specific specialities/resource groups where agreed.
* To support the production of the annual detailed finance and activity plan for the services they cover.
* To work with Finance, Information and Commissioning staff to provide tailored/specialist IT solutions to the financial and activity information analysis required for any planning or monitoring need.
* To support the development, implementation and evaluation of new information systems/databases as required and provide ongoing advice/support around their usage.
* Responsible for the financial analysis and reporting on agreed services within the service portfolio
* Responsible for the production of forecasts using a variety of modelling techniques. Derive monthly profiles as required and update/refine analytical models as required.
* Contribute to the improvement of data quality, through identification and investigation of any data quality issues, and implementation of improvement/redesign programmes as required.
* Responsible for strict adherence to deadlines for completion of monthly monitoring of financial and activity information for a specific range of services.
* Responsible for the production, development and promotion of a wide range of financial and information reports and analysis on a regular and ad hoc basis.

Financial input into the budget setting process, working with budget holders and finance colleagues towards reaching an agreed budget

Accountant - NHS - Key skills:

Essential:

* Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes.
* Experience in reconciliation of provider accounts to financial ledger
* Experience of year end processes and reconciliations in the NHS
* Experience in activity planning and analysis within a Commissioning Environment and PbR Tariffs
* Experience of working in Commissioning Acute Services
* Demonstrated experience in a Healthcare environment.
