The role of the Management Accountant is to manage the day to day running of the accounts department and is responsible for the production of the monthly management accounts enabling the company management team to make sound commercial decisions based on financial information.

The job:-

-Completing Monthly Reporting Pack for Financial Controller to review to include, headlines, monthly P&L, P&L actual versus budget, balance sheet, aged debt analysis, cashflow historic analysis, cashflow forecast, client specific analysis, month end checklist.
-Providing commentary and variance analysis, actual versus budget, actual versus prior year to account manager.
-Critically reviewing the P&L and balance sheet reports to ensure there are no errors or omissions.
-Offering professional judgement on financial matters and advising on ways of improving business performance.
-Communicating financial data to non-financial managers/client staff.
-Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements where needed.
-Assisting with budgets and forecasts for approval by the Financial Controller and Finance Director.
-Overseeing management of sales ledger to include:-
-Maintaining credit control notes for review with FC.
-Overseeing management of purchase ledger.
-Processing expenses.
-Calculating and posting month end journals.
-Preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
-Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register.
-Calculating the monthly depreciation charge and posting to the ledger.

The person:-

-Must be qualified or part qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA
-Positive approach.
-Communicates in an effective way maintaining polite and professional approach with clients and team.
-Flexibility - shows flexibility with a willingness to undertake tasks outside normal scope of the role, adapts to change quickly and positively, appropriately adapts thinking or approach as the situation changes.
-Quality of work - ensures accuracy of work with ability to self-check and if necessary check if unsure.
