RIO has developed a unique approach to transformational change using challenge based learning and social enterprise. As Senior Finance Assistant you will take a key role in ensuring that the finances of the organisation are effectively managed using best practice systems and approaches while maintaining the accounting records accurately and up to date, and that RIO's assets are safeguarded and employed effectively.

This role will start on a temporary basis, with the view to develop into a permanent contract.

Duties:

Working with the Head of Finance to ensure that RIO CiC complies with standard financial and legal practice and maintains standards of corporate governance.

• Support the Head of Finance with month end duties to enable the production of monthly management accounts.
• Contributing to project and Operational team meeting discussions as and when required and advising Contract Managers of the legal, governance, accounting and tax implications of proposed programs and policies.
• Support the Head of Finance in liaising with external regulators and advisors such as solicitors and auditors
• Working with the Head of Finance in overseeing the systems that ensure RIO CiC complies with all financial statutory requirements.

Providing financial support and guidance in ensuring the commercial viability and effective delivery of RIO services.

• Work with Contract Managers to help prepare and manage budgets
• Work with the Contract & Project Managers to prepare claims and reports for funding bodies.
• Manage the work of the Finance Assistant in ensuring the smooth running of RIO's financial systems and functions, purchase ledger payments, mileage logs and payment runs.
• Prepare banking and post transactions onto the cashbook & monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts
• Work with RIO Admin team and produce monthly reconciliations of all Petty cash and Business Unit Cash accounts
• Processing the supplier Payment run with support of the finance assistant
• Ensure fixed asset log up to date in line with RIO's policy
• Responsible for Debtors Ledger including raising all sales invoices and following credit control procedures. Alerting the Head of Finance of valid reason for any late receipts and providing a solution. This requires weekly supervision of both ledgers and a well organised system.
• Help maintain the income log and ensure all income is invoiced and received
• Supporting Head of Finance with cash flow management
• Work with RIO Admin team/Head of Operations to ensure timely collection of HR information to enable production of payroll alerts for Head of Finance
• With the support of Head of Finance, Implement financial systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation

• A flexible approach is required for the role, as additional, reasonable duties commensurate with the role and as agreed in advance with the Head of Finance.
