Financial Accountant, Guildford, GBP45,000-GBP55,000 Role Purpose The Information Technology Department provides technology services to the groups companies, both operational and project based. In addition the Project Management Office oversees a significant portfolio of projects. Finally the modernisation programme (NOVA) is expected to consume significant funding over a multi-year period, the majority of which will be capitalised. This senior level role will drive the production of timely and accurate data; will oversee the technical accounting to track and allocate technology; track performance to budget; liaise with group and company Finance teams; and contribute to the financial planning process for IT Operations, and for individual Projects and Programmes. Key Accountabilities Planning Coordinate the planning process within IT, the PMO, and Business Project BoardsOversee the planning models to ensure completeness and accuracy Performance Produce AvE reports for financial management of IT, projects and programmesProduce AvE analysis for business project boards, and other consumers of portfolio information (including NOVA) Procure to Pay Calculate allocations of Shared and Non-Shared IT spend using Project and BusinessService allocation rulesCalculate and book intercompany expense recharges for IT and Project spend, with communication to local Finance Teams to ensure the recharges are acceptedMonthly reconciliation of all IT and Project expense recharges for the GroupDetermine monthly accrual and prepayment requirements Capitalisation Work within FASB rules, create and document the processes for identifying, recording and analysing capital investmentCarry out a review of existing investment in the NOVA Programme for capital/expense decisions and the technical accounting there ofWork with Finance Leadership to track assets; maintain asset registers; and apply depreciation expense Compliance Maintain effective internal controls for risk mitigation, including evidence collectionUndertake remedial actions as directed by IT Compliance Person Specification Essential Experience: Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g. Accounting, Finance) An internationally recognized accounting designation (e.g. CPA, CA or ACCA) At least 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably with a focus on technology investment and/or major programmes/projects Experience with procure to pay lifecycle; asset lifecycle; project lifecycle Knowledge: Knowledge of Unit 4 finance products (Coda Financials, Coda Accounts Payable, P2P and FPM) preferred Knowledge of Coda or a similar G/L essential Knowledge of FASB rules regarding capitalisation Ability to extract, confirm and analyse data within Excel is essential General Skills / Attributes: Self-motivated, strong sense of urgency and initiative Commitment to meeting deadlines and ability to work overtime and to travel to other offices as required Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) well and work effectively in a distributed team environment and to demonstrate professionalism while interacting with personnel throughout the group
