Seeking a hardworking, trustworthy and motivated individual to work as a Bookkeeper for a brand new business. This is an exciting opportunity to embark on. You will be working from home to begin with until the office is up and running. Monday - Friday with flexible working hours, Hereford salary is dependent upon experience and skill set, GBP22,000 - GBP27,000 per anum.

Skill set:
• AAT qualified
• 10 years' relevant experience
• First rate working knowledge of Sage
• Good IT skills
• Excellent Excel ability
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Self-motivated and able to work alone effectively
• Be driven and show initiative
• Full clean driver's license
• Access to vehicle

Your main responsibilities will be:
1. Accurately and timely processing of all Sage/QB/Xero data and relevant paperwork in respect of Month End and Year End for client companies
2. Maintain and reconcile Sales, Purchase and Nominal ledgers
3. Reconcile all bank accounts
4. Reconcile all VAT accounts and provide figures for client Vat return
5. Input and reconcile petty cash
6. Process staff/Director expenses as required
7. Maintain Fixed Asset register
8. Input and reconcile credit cards
9. Post all journals for month (i.e. depreciation, accruals and prepayments, payroll etc.)
10. Forward month-end and year-end accounts by due deadline
11. Prepare client month-end reports to review
12. Calculate variances from budget and report significant issues
13. Respond promptly to all client queries
14. Assist with HMRC queries where appropriate
15. Ensure regular and accurate data backups are kept
16. Notify any irregularities or concerns
17. Attend client site as required
18. Advise client on best practice, clerical support, housekeeping, authorisation etc.
19. Assemble information for external auditors
20. Calculate financial analysis of financial statements

Your general duties will include the following:
1. Maintain timely and accurate time and expense recording
2. Identity possible new business opportunities with new and existing clients
3. Lead, attend and contribute to meetings as necessary
4. Deputise for colleagues as necessary
5. Operate within the Company's policies and procedures (including AML, Data Protection, Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety etc.)
6. Produce reports, Excel spreadsheets/charts, MI and statistics as required
7. Participate in networking events as required
8. Project a positive image of oneself and the Company to others
9. Ensure effective self-management and organisation in order to meet all deadlines
10. Ensure the maintenance of effective communications across the Company
11. Ensure and maintain a strong internal and external customer service focus
12. Actively participate in training and development
