Internationally recognised Pharmaceutical company requires a Principle Scientist to head Pharmaceutical development.

The main purpose of this role is to oversee the Formulation Research and Development department, scientific research and the day-to-day running of the laboratory in line with GxP regulations.

Responsibilities will include:

• To oversee formulation research and development in line with study plans / testing protocols/BMR's and GxP regulations.
• To technically review proposals and proposal amendments
• To bridge technical knowhow between Study Directors and the Head of Formulation Development
• To review literature in preparation for studies and to regularly update knowledge by reviewing appropriate literature.
• To assist senior scientists/Study Directors with the day to day smooth running of projects and provide technical input as a technical expert (focused in pharmaceutical development).
• Making decisions on project steps to ensure a more efficient development process
• To support the Senior Director of Formulation Development and the Study Directors with client meetings as a Technical Expert
• To assist in the generation of reports containing the results of experiments carried out in the department ready for the Study Directors/Principal Scientists.
• To assist the Senior Director of Formulation Development in strategic decisions for both the Formulation Research and Development team and have a global understanding of projects throughout the development process
• To assist in the preparation of SOPs and Forms as required.
• To report any amendments and deviations from SOPs and study plans/ testing protocols to the Study Director/Principal Scientist as appropriate.
• To acknowledge and adhere to study plan/testing protocol timelines.
• To provide training to Junior Scientists as required.
• To ensure that all documentation, computer data and records are stored appropriately.
• To raise and complete relevant documentation pertaining to the ordering and purchasing of equipment for the department.
• To liaise and collaborate with suppliers and contractors when required
• To identify training needs for Formulation Research and Development personnel
• Provide support to the formulation research and development departments in an attempt to implement any potential efficiencies or improvements
