Senior Animal Technician
A fantastic opportunity is now available in Cambridge for a permanent Senior Animal Technician. This is a great role offering excellent experience, benefits and training.

Duties will include
Cleaning, feeding and watering of animals, cage side assessments and daily health check.
Maintain meticulous unit records of animal / fish breeding programmes, methods, sample details within specific research project(s), etc
Maintenance of breeding colonies, setting up breeding pairs, sexing and weaning animals and monitoring pregnancies.
Assist with the provision of an effective and efficient technical service for all users of the facility.
To contribute to the Unit Quality Assurance system by assisting with the drafting of working documents, including Standard Operating Procedures, and basic Risk and COSHH assessments.
To support meetings, copying papers and reports.
To maintain AU & Home Office records, including paper based and data systems.
Assist with the planning and organisation of resources for the running of the AU.
Instruct, train and provide guidance and supervision to other technical staff and students in the techniques and operation of the Animals (Scientific procedures) Act 1986 (as amended) 2012.
Participate in the rota to cover weekends, minimum service days and bank holidays as required.

Skills and Qualifications
Proven hands-on experience of working within a small animal/aquatic facility.
Experience of acting in a supervisory / training role.
Current Personal Home Office Licence holder.
Institute Of Technology Membership (or equivalent).
