My client is looking for a Payroll Officer to join an upbeat and busy team. The right candidate will be willing to learn new things and adapt to changing environments.

Purpose of the role:

To support the payroll team with providing a comprehensive, accurate and timely payroll service to the business ensuring that all Company obligations are met.

Key Responsibilities

* Process and run the monthly employee payroll including the administration of all fixed and variable pay elements.
* Answer and resolve payroll queries from employees, managers and external bodies.
* Manage annual processes in an accurate and timely manner, for example;
* P11D process; submit all relevant documentation/payments within HMRC timeframes; Tax year end.
* Year end process; submit all relevant documentation / payments within HMRC timeframes
* Run existing payroll reports and develop any new reports as required
* Ensure all necessary monthly payments are made within deadlines, for example, PAYE, pension contributions, and BACS salary payments.
* Deal with expatriate administration for employees seconded to other companies in the Group.
* Liaise with system provider to resolve technical issues or seek assistance with complex system tasks. Log and monitor calls and progress.
* Liaise closely with the Finance department to ensure correct payments are made to external bodies (for example, the CSA or payment of CCJs) and all payroll control accounts are balanced on a monthly basis.

* Ensure current payroll legislation knowledge is up to date and payroll procedures (both hardcopy and electronic held within the intranet) are updated accordingly.
* Involvement in a variety of project work as directed by the Payroll Team Leader and the HR Manager.

Key Skills, Experience and Knowledge

* Ideally qualified or studying towards IPPM
* Confident and proficient in using computerised payroll databases
* Experience of a similar sized payroll (currently 1500 staff)
* IT literate, having reached a competent level in Excel and Outlook (or equivalent).
* Effective communication skills
* Able to work under own initiative with minimal supervision
* Analytical and numerate.
* A team player with a flexible approach to work duties.
* Able to offer solutions to problems and new ways of thinking
* Tenacity to investigate and fully resolve payroll-related problems.

Salary: Up to GBP25,000 D.O.E

Hours of work: Monday - Friday. 8.30am - 5pm.
