The post holder will be part of the Department's small Payroll team, which sits within the Finance Directorate based in Leeds.
* The function of the team is to provide Payroll services to the Department of Health in conjunction with our third party payroll provider.
* Responsibilities of the post This Payroll Manager will be primarily responsible for the managing the relationships with, and overseeing the accurate and timely transmission of payroll data, to the Department's third party payroll provider.
* Key requirements for the role Candidates should have a background in payroll operations and experience in customer facing roles.

Person spec

* Be able to forge and maintain effective relationships and provide excellent customer service to DH staff / HR/and Payroll colleagues enquiring about Payroll matters

* Have the ability to anticipate, manage and arrive at solutions arising from payroll related issues,

* Possess excellent communication skills to enable them to provide a key 'translation' role to wider DH staff on payroll related issues

* Have the ability to manage and continuously improve a monthly cycle to ensure process efficiency improves the service for all - maximising the benefits of technology

* Possess excellent Excel skills enabling them to manipulate data from a variety of sources

* Although no formal Payroll or Finance qualification is required, some knowledge of Payroll processes & PAYE as well as Financial Management experience would be an advantage This post is for a maximum of 12 months for Maternity leave cover
