Software Engineer - .NET - Permanent - Newport - GBP45,000 + Benefits

My client, a large Government body, is looking for a number of Software Engineers to join an exciting development team based in South Wales.

The client are aiming to transform the way they deliver services across the business by retiring numerous bespoke, Legacy applications with modern solutions built on enterprise-class Middleware platforms. The successful Software Engineer will need to have an appetite for delivering quality solutions as well as a passion for software development. You will need to come from a .NET background and will join an innovative, multidiscipline team that have an openness to share thoughts and ideas with each other

Responsibilities

The successful Software Engineer will:
  • Take responsibility for the design, coding, testing and documentation of small to large scale, mission critical programs
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver highly user focused and successful digital services
  • Build RESTful web services to serve a variety of citizen, open data and government needs
  • Build Front End interfaces, working with customer insight and UX teams to deliver and continuously improve internal and external users' productivity and satisfaction.
  • Implement toolkits and APIs for purposes such as integration, performance optimisation, security and scalability
  • Build automated tests to support our continuous deployment environment
  • Take responsibility for own training and development, keeping skills up to date and learning new skills.
  • Share knowledge of tools and techniques with your wider team, both developers and non-developers
  • Coach or mentor junior/trainee colleagues.
Skills

Knowledge of the following .NET stack is essential, as well as previous experience of working in an Agile environment. However, candidates will also be expected to learn and adapt to new disciplines during their tenure.
