Post: Operations Manager - Lancashire Energy HQ

Grade: Spot Salary GBP45-000

Responsible to: Head of Energy Training and Development

Co-ordinates with: College staff both within the Energy HQ and other College Managers

Teaching Commitment: To undertake up to 520 hours of teaching annually

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • To manage and lead the Curriculum planning and delivery within the Lancashire Energy Head Quarters delivery team
  • To manage plan and input electronic timetabling for all courses delivered at LEHQ
  • To manage development and oversee and lead on writing of curriculum to be delivered
  • To manage quality and target monitoring of all course activity funded and commercial at LEHQ

Principal Duties

1. To take a leading role in the day to day operation of the Lancashire Energy HQ time tabling and curriculum plan with area trainers and or lecturers and to contribute effectively to strategic planning

2. To ensure the development of new approaches to learning teaching and assessment in line with national developments and the needs of students

3. To manage agree and monitor the performance objectives of LEHQ direct line reports so that they contribute to the achievement of whole College targets

4. To maintain effective relationships with external organisations and stakeholders such as validating awarding bodies

5. Work with the Lancashire Energy HQ Head of Energy Training and Development to expand the curriculum offer to best suit employers and industry needs in line with market trends and LEP priorities

6. To ensure that achievement rates on programmes meet or exceed agreed National targets

7. To line manage staff within the LEHQ including responsibility for their performance management and staff development and ensuring that they comply with College procedures

8. To provide effective support for staff to ensure that they can fulfil their professional duties and meet the requirement of their job description

9. To ensure the quality of provision through the implementation of College quality systems and procedures

10. To assure that students receive effective support appropriate to their needs liaising with specialist staff within the College as required to support their achievement, including access to English and Mathematics

11. To work with staff within the College to ensure that college systems of support and discipline are used rigorously in order to support student retention and achievement

12. To manage resources in collaboration with other college managers and within the department including the deployment of staff and resources required for effective and innovative curriculum delivery and financial efficiencies

13. Participate in performance management and professional development as appropriate

14. Deputies for Head of Energy Training and Development as required

Duties of all Managers across the College

1. To support the College in its corporate endeavors and achievement of its Mission and Strategic Plan

2. To contribute to the annual self-assessment exercise in order to monitor and evaluate performance, to bring about year on year improvement

3. To lead by example and provide visible demonstration of the Leadership and Management in Action pledge

4. To manage the recruitment and selection process and be responsible for the development and annual performance management of staff

5. To manage and allocate resources effectively and efficiently to high standards expected in the public services

6. To establish effective communication within and outside the college

7. To maintain and improve Health & Safety standards in the area of responsibility

8. To establish and secure quality improvement and produce an annual Quality Improvement Plan

1. To reflect critically on personal management practices and strategies used and how personal performance can be improved

2. Other duties that may, from time to time, be requested by the Principal or Head of Lancashire Energy HQ

3. Manage workshop Health & Safety at Lancashire Energy HQ.
