Our client, a large financial services organisation are looking to recruit a Big Data Consultant

As Big Data Consultant you will focus on requirements gathering, design, develop and test ETLs. Interaction with the customer following an agile approach is a must as well as sound technical background in order to be able to develop complex transformations of data.

The Role, Key Responsibilities and Relationships

Key Accountabilities:

• Analyse business requirements in order to design the transformation required.
• Design and develop ETLs to guarantee the correct creation of enriched layers in the data lake.
• Test and sign-off the ETLs so they can be promoted to production
• Apply appropriate and proportionate requirements elicitation techniques leading to appropriate levels of documentation
• Document all the ETLs from both technical and business point of view
• Robust check and challenge process on all requirements to deliver optimal solutions to needs, not wants
• Design solutions aligned to enterprise goals, internal controls and governance practice
• In depth awareness and understanding of business use of Big Data and applicability to operations and processes
• Advise and make recommendations to customers engaging at the earliest possible time in order to influence the optimal design outcome
• Project management of multiple diverse projects and stakeholders
• Negotiating and containing scope and priorities whilst delivering on core requirements
• Maintain close working relationships with colleagues ensuring awareness and applicability of new technologies and techniques
• Work with the wider business and other Big Data teams to anticipate and recommend future developments
• Work in line with internal control and governance practice

Further Skills and Experience Required:

• Very strong Excel skills, to macro level
• Strong SQL skills
• Knowledge of ETL processes and data/systems integration
• Knowledge of Big Data principles
• Knowledge of Python
• Experience in a Data Quality or Data Migration environment
• Data model design and development experience
• Banking sector experience, especially in a similar role
• Good mathematical skills including knowledge of statistical analysis and data presentation
• Knowledge of Hadoop Ecosystem - Cloudera (Impala, HIVE)
