Construction Recycling and Inventory Manager

The Construction Recycling and Inventory Manager will lead and set the strategic direction for all centralised recycling & equipment re-use operations within the Construction team in order to maximise investment returns through reduction of capital spend and reduced equipment lead times for New Store, Refit and Smaller Capital programmes.

The role holder will achieve this by collaborating cross functionally to make best use of donor stock from disposal & refit activity, maintaining 7 year quality standards for re-use and managing an effective & efficient call off process. Directly responsible for GBP30m-GBP50m of recycled kit annually.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead team to proactively explore, research, develop and test new innovations, technology, and working practices in order to reduce costs, improve service and meet current and future legislative requirements.
  • Own all Reporting, Validation & Tracking measures toward recycling benefits. Effectively and regularly communicating risks, issues and progress to key stakeholders to ensure appropriate decisions are made to keep the programme on track'.
  • Prepare forecasts & forward manage the donor pipeline to maximise recycling activity
  • Ensure terms of engagement & commercial agreements are in place with suppliers for recycling & re-use activity.
  • Manage & maintain a centralised virtual warehouse' for housing of recycled and forward ordered capital equipment & suppliers
  • Own, document, communicate & manage the end to end process for equipment removal, recycling, storage & call off to re-use
  • Aim to eradicate or at least minimise the impacts of storage and logistics costs
  • Develop quality controls & procedures to ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and is aligned to asset life cycle and finance model for write offs
  • Work with QS & Cost team to ensure all appropriate financial controls are in place for vesting & receipting of equipment
  • Deliver recycling savings annually to targets and input strategically into all Adding Value & cost saving programmes to ensure our wider targets are achieved
  • Work cross functionally and collaboratively across Estates but particularly with Construction, Portfolio and FM teams to ensure benefit is maximised

Key Experience

  • Similar role held previously in either Construction and or retail property environment
  • Has experience of developing leading and implementing recycling/re-use programmes
  • Has strong commercial focus
  • Is an innovator with a keen eye on cost reduction
  • Is results focused and highly self-motivated
  • First class communication, engagement and presentational skills
  • Strategic thinker, able to develop stretching 1 year business plans & strategies
  • In depth understanding of Asset Life Cycle & Asset Management
  • Broad practical experience of multi-site retail, facilities management & capital investment
  • Ideally has a recognised construction industry professional qualification (MRICs or similar)
