Laboratory Solutions are working with a very exciting American Immuno-Oncology, early stage discovery antibody engineering company that have set up a rapidly expanding site in Cambridge for their Research.
My client are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible junior bench scientist to join our growing protein science team. The site is specialized in the discovery and development of biopharmaceuticals for Immuno-oncology targets.
The incumbent will be part of a small team interacting regularly with global project teams to bring differentiated cancer drugs to the patient.
Initial training and mentoring on cutting edge technologies will be provided to the successful candidate.

• In support of ongoing and future therapeutic projects, the incumbent will be expected to derive antigen cloning strategies and implement the expression/purification process to obtain high quality protein material in readiness of lead selections and functional assays by colleagues.
• Implementation of a robust protein and antibody purification process that can be utilized by junior staff on a regular basis.
• Develop and implement approaches to miniaturize and semi-automate expression and purification of small scale protein productions in order to streamline processes and free up resources to engage in novel therapy modalities.
• Review and consult internal project teams on best practices and protein requirements as part of asset progression.
• Drive activities around protein engineering to address lead liabilities.
• Actively influence proposals for new and amended therapy modalities.
• Act as a lab-based mentor to junior staff both, within the immediate line and beyond.

• Ph.D. degree or native equivalent in a biology or biotechnology discipline with 6-8 years of relevant experience, in part gained from working in industry a pre-requisite.
• Proven track record of implementing expression / purification strategies for a variety of different proteins from bacterial and mammalian expression systems.
• Extensive experience in molecular biology encompassing vector design, use of cloning cassettes and various GoI tags.
• Previous experience in protein engineering and SAR would be desirable.
• Good to excellent grasp of software packages such as Microsoft Office, sequence analysis and data recording.
