The Role - MFL Teacher

The school are looking for an MFL Teacher who is committed to the aims and ethos of the school and will play a full and proactive role in the MFL team. You will be ambitious and seeking to further your professional development.

The successful candidate will have the potential to deliver outstanding MFL examination results and want to participate in curriculum development. You will display a commitment to excellence across the ability range and be willing to organise and participate in trips abroad and will support the school's partnership work with the French Institute.

The school has high expectations of staff and pupils and you will be responsible for promoting them in the classroom and beyond.

It is essential that the successful MFL Teacher has the ability to teach to A level standard in French but an additional language such as Spanish or Italian is highly desirable as are excellent ICT skills and an understanding of the potential of ICT in MFL teaching.

The MFL Department - MFL Teacher

The Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Department at the school offers French to all students on entry in year 7. Students study MFL up to GCSE level and consequently, Spanish and Italian are offered as an additional option when students express their preferences in Year 8.

KS4 studies therefore commence in earnest in year 9 under the Edexcel exam board. French runs at A level and as the Language option for The International Baccalaureate. Students at present study French, Italian or Spanish at Ab Initio and Standard levels.

You will be joining as an MFL Teacher a department which comprises of a Curriculum Manager and five full-time teachers.

MFL occupies its own suite of rooms in addition to a dedicated multimedia suite with 28 stations and interactive whiteboard. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and specific ICT software.

The MFL team works in an integrated way and places great emphasis on teamwork, cooperation and collaborative planning. All team members are expected to contribute to the sharing of good practice in raising student achievement. This includes making full use of the information handling facilities available in the MFL area.
