are currently representing a globally respected General Insurance organisation in their focus to appoint an Executive Actuary for their Dublin Office.

As an executive member of the Risk Actuarial Review Team as part of the Risk Management team in GI. The job holder carries out 2nd line reviews of actuarial and underwriting in GI and provides business insight to relevant stakeholders. You will have responsibility for delivery of actuarial services within GI Risk Management and for governance of Risk challenge and review of insurance risk in the regions and countries. Provides strategic and operational leadership including the professional development of technical staff.

Key Accountabilities

* Act as independent partner to the Underwriting and Reserving functions
* Provide Risk challenge and review
* Lead actuarial and other services to deliver;
* Independent top-down analysis and assessment of reserving and underwriting methodology and approaches
* Specific targeted deep dive analyses on reserves, pricing (including large deals) and underwriting risk
* Participate in Reserving and Underwriting decision processes, providing independent challenge as part of decision making
* Deliver Risk challenge and review of Underwriting and Reserving in accordance with Group, Regional, and Local regulatory policies, in the context of high regulatory complexity.

Additional Job Functions

* Provide thought leadership on portfolios with very high levels of complexity / diversity.
* Ensure delivery of assigned projects, which may include oversight of employees abroad.
* Deputize for the Head of Risk Actuarial Review Team as needed.
* Manage, support or perform strategic or global projects, or global oversight functions.
* Adhere to professional standards of practice as defined by the relevant local actuarial society, regulatory body, or other governing body.
* Support CRO's, as requested, in liaison with rating agencies, regulators and external consultants.
* Support the cascade of Group strategy to Risk Management personnel; lead and oversee change management in organization.
* Identify opportunities and risks associated with changes in direction of external environment.

Business Accountabilities

* Actively provide professional actuarial support and advice to the regional or global GI Chief Risk Officers and to senior management and group functions, including insights into underlying performance and implications for the business.
* Provide leadership advocacy for data quality, granularity, and availability, to ensure robust inputs to actuarial processes.
* Provide an external perspective to facilitate improvements to processes and standards where warranted to improve statutory, regulatory and internal compliance.
* Lead the most complex analyses on special projects, for example, provide advice to senior business leaders on the viability of potential mergers and acquisitions.
* Make informed actuarial recommendations based on professional judgment and experience; effectively challenge and/or escalate issues that may be of a highly sensitive nature, within business decisions or processes that are not able to be supported from an actuarial standpoint.
* Mentor and develop other actuarial professionals within the department, providing input to or leading global training and people development initiatives.
* On a project by project basis manage direct reports by providing direction and empowering them to deliver on results; act as a role model to actuarial professionals; support General Insurance actuarial global talent initiatives; ensure that talent is being developed.

Performance Management Accountabilities

* Provide guidance and leadership to executive team and lead key management strategies. Lead initiatives to increase collaboration among divisions and BUs to facilitate synergies. Take action to manage own personal development and encourage others to do the same.
* All lines of business globally are potentially with scope.

Education and Experience

Required: Bachelor's degree or (equivalent) in Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics / Statistics, Other Sciences and 10 or more years of experience in related field


* Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management, etc.) and multiple Business Units


* Experience in multiple cultures



* Fully qualified actuary in a globally recognized actuarial body
