Our prestigious public sector client requires to recruit several Visitor Access & Control Officer's to work on a temporary basis in one of the most iconic venues in the City Centre area of Edinburgh.

The successful candidates role will be working in a team that is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for all accessing the building and events contained within it. The team is also responsible for protecting property and equipment within the building and provides a security presence, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and is part of the emergency response.

Interviews will take place with our client week commencing 24th April 2017. The successful candidates will be required to undertake advanced security checks (such as Disclosure Scotland and Counter Terrorism vetting,) and will only be able to start when returned.

The contract will be for an initial period of 3 months

Rate of pay - GBP12.33 per hour.

Working pattern - 4 days on/ 4 days off, 12 hour shifts (generally 7.30am to 7.30pm.) Applicants should be aware that rota will involve 1 nightshift (approximately 1 every 4 weeks.)

Duties will include:

- Providing a customer friendly front line security service for the venue
- Maintaining high levels of customer service and visitor relations, while balancing the need for vigilance towards security
- Ensuring that the visitor Code of Conduct is adhered to
- Handling of lost and found property
- Assisting with events held within the building
- Ensuring all evacuation procedures are applied
- Conducting security searches of the building and vehicles
- Monitoring CCTV cameras (covering public area and the perimeter)

Candidates must:

- Have previous experience working with the public and understand the challenges that this brings
- Have a friendly, professional and courteous manner with an ability to talk to members of the public, providing basic advice when required
- Have attention to detail and the ability to stay alert for long periods of time
- Be flexible with working patterns and shifts
- Be a strong team player in order to achieve common goals and objectives
- Be committed to the hours and days of work as advised above
- Be reliable & trustworthy
- Be able to remain on their feet for long periods of time and be able to cover significant distances throughout there working day.
