Our client is a retail Community bank with 6 branches across the UK including Scotland, the midlands and London. The business is growing and have created a new position for an ambitious Deputy Head of Operations who sees this as a stepping stone for further career advancement

Role Function:
To manage day to day responsibility for the Branch Operations, Central Operations ("COPs"), Trade Finance Operations ("TFO"), Credit Administration Department (CAD), and Treasury Back Office ("TBO") ensuring that a professional service is provided at all times, and that service standards are met.

Location : Birmingham

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Branch Operations Managers, PHC Operations Manager; Central Operations Management; Trade Finance Operations Manager; Credit Administration Department, Treasury Operations Manager

Key responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for managing Operations and ensuring that it is delivering to agreed KPIs, service standards, compliance with regulations and within budget.
  • Inspiring, motivating and developing the team to ensure performance is optimised.
  • Managing agreed change initiatives to improve process and performance and reduce costs.
  • Setting and delivering challenging targets in consultation with the management.
  • Coaching and improving the performance of the Managers and their teams.
  • Identifying development areas to address issues of underperformance where appropriate.
  • Being proactively responsible for employee motivation including monitoring and targeting levels of employee engagement.
  • Creating a dynamic work environment where people continuously develop and contribute to our goals.
  • To review and develop the short and long term strategy for Operations.

Candidate Profile:
  • Minimum A- level or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum five year relevant banking experience
  • Very much a people person with exceptional soft people management skills
  • Hands on operations manager with experience of delivering high performance preferably within retail banking financial services sector.
  • Working knowledge of retail banking regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of statutory/legal regulations relating to retail banking.
  • Naturally proactive and enthusiastic with the ability to hit the ground running.
  • Strong motivator, performance manager, trainer and coach.
  • Confident with the ability to work on project and communicate across the business.
  • Strong analytical and judgement skills - evidenced by track record.
  • The ability to train and develop staff and explain changes to management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, team working and organisational skills.
