Natalie Wood is recruiting for a Textile Chemist to join a textile and fabric manufacturing company in their coatings division based in Greater Manchester, on a full time, permanent basis.

Hours of work will be a 2 shift pattern Monday- Friday rotating fortnightly these will be 6am-3pm and 1pm-10pm. The company offers 33 days' holiday inclusive of statutory holidays, some of which are to be reserved for Christmas shutdown. As the Textile Chemist your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the development of fabric coating formulations (flat and foamed), and the measurement of the physical and mechanical performance of the resulting product.
- Assisting in the introduction of new formulations, products and procedures, on the coating and mixing plant.
- Responsibility for the correct implementation of recipes and procedures for the production mixing plant
- Assisting the Colour Chemist and Q.C. Manager with Q.C. systems and procedures within the laboratory and production departments.
- Gaining a detailed understanding of the systems and operational running of the mixing department and colour kitchen.
- Ensuring an accurate and current database of chemical MSDS is maintained.

As a Textile Chemist, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Degree in Polymer Chemistry, Textile Chemistry, Colour Chemistry or equivalent
- Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment.
- It is essential that applicants have strong experience of colour chemistry and coatings and will ideally come from a previous polymer background.
- Textile industry knowledge is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
