Position - Senior School Nurse - Hampshire


Location - Hampshire

Salary - up to GBP35,577

Hours - Full Time Permanent - Days only

My client runs a health centre based on site to cater for the medical needs of 168 physically disabled students who attend the School and College. They are currently recruiting due to extending their service to a 52 weeks on-site nursing provision.


To work as part of the nursing team to provide high quality holistic health care to the students throughout the campus, ensuring the Nursing needs of the students are met.

To assess, develop and implement programmes of care for the students.

To undertake health assessments and screening, organising any necessary.

To disseminate training and information to the multidisciplinary team working with the students

My client provides specialist education, care and therapy for students with complex physical, neurological and learning disabilities. The post holder shall work in order to ensure the most appropriate nursing, personal and social care for all students. In undertaking this role their principle responsibilities are as follows:



To work within the nursing team to deliver high quality nursing care to students;

To work as a member of the multi disciplinary team to deliver high quality care to students in order to enable them to achieve their full potential.

To participate in health screening and promotion;

To participate in the immunisation programmes in line with government recommendations, trust policy and patient group protocols;

To work in partnership with other professionals and agencies;

To administer medications and train Residential care staff in accordance with national and local policies and patient group directives;

To organise and deliver a broad range of nursing treatments, to monitor their efficacy, and to develop programmes of care;

To provide first aid and attend emergency situations;

To maintain accurate, contemporaneous records of all episodes of student contact.

To participate in clinical supervision;

To deliver training in specific care procedures to care staff and assist in the monitoring and assessment of the delivery of the same by the care staff;

To actively transfer knowledge and skills to colleagues.

To work to encourage the students independence and self advocacy.


RN1 with active registration

Evidence of CPD


Four years post registration experience

Experience working with children and young people

Skills and Abilities

Good organisational skills

Ability to manage priorities and plan workload

Ability to work without direct supervision

Ability to work as part of a team

Ability to work with other professionals and agencies

Accountability, responsibility

Maintain confidentiality

Record keeping skills
