Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this role will provide independent risk management oversight of, and support to, our client's activities. The job holder will ensure that the company's approach to risk management meets key stakeholder expectations, including business and Group Executive and Non Executive Directors and all relevant statutory Authorities. You will be a leader, with significant Insurance Industry technical knowledge, and sufficient senior management experience to challenge senior management and lead key risk management activities. The role will include travel to other locations, as well as attendance at industry meetings to facilitate best practice benchmarking.

Responsibilities

* Independent review & challenge of risk registers for adequacy and technical correctness
* Provision of risk "consultancy" services for formation of strategy and key project consideration
* Thought leader on the company's Risk issues
* Leader in risk analysis including scenario planning, stress testing and the application of these techniques in the creation of statutory documents such as the annual "Threshold Conditions 4" exercise
* Key contributor to Emerging and Horizon Risks debates & reporting for the company
* Provider of risk education and training services for the company
* Point of Financial Services risk expertise at the company's Risk Committees
* Creator & presenter of risk reporting at all Governance meetings
* Represent the company's group risk function at third party meetings, external conferences etc.
* Stay up to date with industry changes with regard to risk approach and management and best practice

The Ideal Individual

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

* Best practice Enterprise Risk Management Financial Services knowledge
* 5 years of senior risk management experience in, and commercial knowledge of, one or all of the following:
* Insurance Broking
* General Insurance

Experienced manager with the ability to persuade and influence at senior management level

* Experienced in working with the FCA and other relevant regulatory authorities
* Excellent communication skills, written and listening, across all business levels, and ability to act as a point of contact for the business to discuss requirements
* Strong attention to detail
* Highly developed time management skills to enable successful delivery to deadlines and to the required standard
* Self-managing and confident in their own abilities
* Highly computer literate with extensive practical experience of MS Office including MS Project

Desirable:

* Enthusiastic about change but sensitive to the effect of change on people and businesses
* Experience of Enterprise Risk Management databases

Education and Qualifications:

Essential:

* Educated to degree standard (or equivalent)

Desirable:

* Professional qualification either in Finance, risk or both
