Our client currently has a unique opportunity within their specialist insurance division for a Head of Finance to be responsible for MI & finance efficiency. Reporting to the Finance Director you will provide the business with strong cost management discipline in order to enhance cost control & support divisional objectives. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the business has appropriate and timely MI to support its financial and commercial decision making process and a summary of duties is summarised below:-

Review all finance expense and MI processing ensuring maximum use of automation.

Expense analysis and financial MI production.

Establish, maintain and develop, cost management and control processes
Help create a strong environment for financial control & on-going cost reduction.

Interpret the drivers of new and in-force unit costs to ensure profitability is maximised and operational inefficiencies are addressed & enable senior managers to make decisions about products.

Provide board level reporting on divisional costs.

Provide senior level commentary explaining key variances.

Provide granularity and timely expense allocation information.

Lead the process of setting Expense assumptions and parameters for planning and forecasting exercises.

Ensure that Expense plans and forecasts are consistent with strategy, deliver the anticipated benefits, and are capable of being implemented by the Business with the human and financial resources available to it.

Identify senior stakeholder KPI and reporting requirements.

Deliver timey financial performance statistics.

Produce sales and other business MI for the business to aid decision making and supporting achievement of financial targets.

Applications for this unique senior level and vital role are especially welcomed from Qualified Accountant with considerable experience within the insurance industry sector including its products and the UK insurance market in general. Understanding of financial processes and techniques especially finance & MI systems, approach to cost allocation, profit measurement & monthly expense analysis within the insurance sector would also be necessary as well as experience of a range of accounting techniques and tools (e.g. management accounting, investment appraisal, ratio and variance analysis, UKGAAP, IFRS, & corporation tax).

Applicants should also have advanced business modeling skills (e.g. Excel) as well as strong data analysis skills, with an ability to identify meaningful information from multiple data sources and large data extracts, identify data patterns, notice anomalies etc.

Personality wise you will need to be a motivated self-starter who needs minimal direct support but is capable of recognising when to refer to management with proven expertise in change management and facilitating the transition of tactical change into operational process.
