Purchase Ledger Assistant

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Purchase Ledger Assistant to join a privately owned hire firm based at our Head Office in Measham, Derbyshire. In return, we offer a competitive salary plus employer contribution pension scheme.

Since formation in 1969, the company has grown into a leading, privately owned hire firm, specialising in the hire of both mechanical, non-mechanical and site accommodation equipment.

The Purchase Ledger Assistant will be expected to confidently communicate with customers, providing product knowledge, fulfilling and exceeding customer requirements/expectations.
Duties will include:

• Provide a full range of accounts admin support such as statement reconciliation, cheque generation, input labour analysis and invoice matching to purchases.
• Opening of supplier accounts relating to assigned part of the ledger.
• Ensuring the trial balance is up to date for review and assisting the Finance Directors and Accounts Office Manager in preparing year end audits.
• Ensure invoice data is entered correctly on Insphire including the correct input of VAT purchases.
• Liaising with Depots and Suppliers to ensure smooth payment.
• Be first point of call for incoming calls by re directing the call to the relevant department.
• Assist the Office Manager, Managing Director or Finance Director with any other duties as required.
• Attend meeting that may be necessary in the performance of your duties.
• Comply with and uphold company policies and procedures.
• Undertake any additional tasks as may reasonably be required from time to time.

The successful candidate will have:
• Previously worked in accounts and/or office environment
• Experience of utilising a computerised financial system
• Computer literate, including Microsoft Office.
• Professional telephone manner
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Proactive and flexible
• GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
• Computer literate, including Microsoft Office.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to work well to timescales and deadlines.
• Experience of plant and accommodation hire is desirable but not essential

The hours of work are Monday to Thursday, 9am-5.30pm and 9am-5pm on Friday's
