Job Title: Accounts Controller (Assistant Accountant)

Location: Rugby

Salary: Up to GBP28,000 (with flexibility DOE) plus a very generous benefits package.

* The Accounts Controller is a supervisory role within the Finance and Risk Practice Area of our client and it reports into, and supports, the Accounts Manager.
* The overall purpose of the role is to work within a specialist team to increase profitability and maximise the financial strength of the firm by supporting the effective management of client lock-up over the three key areas:

1 Work in Progress management
2 Billing
3 Collection and Credit Control

* Work includes supervision of a small team and responsibility for managing performance, allocating work, setting priorities and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training.
* The role consists of specialist accounting and clerical tasks, both regular and ad hoc. It will provide accounting and administrative support, informed and knowledgeable in the specific areas of WIP, billing and credit control.
* You will undertake work that is moderately complex to complex in nature and operate under limited direction.
* You will be accountable for organising the team's workflow and making some independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility.
* The role requires someone who is calm, confident, communicates well and is able to provide information or advice to a range of internal and external people.

The successful applicant can expect a high degree of contact with the fee-earners, senior lawyers and associates. You must have the gravitas and confidence to build relationships internally and work collaboratively with various stakeholders within the business.

Key skills and experience:

* You will preferably have a background in working for a professional services company and maintain the highest levels of professionalism at all time.
* You might well be a qualified ILFM Associate or hold the ILFM Diploma. Alternatively, you will be AAT qualified and possibly studying towards your CIMA or ACCA.
* You will have supervisory experience and a wealth of finance and administrative experience.
* You must have a high attention to detail and accuracy. You should be able to develop and incorporate best practice approaches and methodology to ensure that tasks are completed accurately minimising the likelihood of mistakes by both implementing and adhering to appropriate processes.
