We are currently recruiting an Assistant Accountant to work for a large food manufacturing business based in Grantham. This manufacturing site is dedicated to continually developing and improving all internal systems throughout the business to become a world class organisation.

The main purpose of this role is to:

1. Provide support to the finance department in the provision of daily, weekly and monthly accounting information within appropriate deadlines.

2. To assist with the preparation of a comprehensive overhead accounting service for site budget holders.

3. To compile Balance Sheet reconciliations to audit standards.

4. Assist with the other site accounting responsibilities.

You will get involved with various duties such as:

* Assist in the timely preparation, interpretation and presentation of daily, weekly and monthly factory accounting reports.
* Extract, analyse and report variances to standard.
* Assist in overhead reporting and supporting the budget holders in understanding the costs within each of their budget responsibilities.
* Monitor weekly cycle counting to ensure stock checks are completed accurately and controls are maintained.
* Administer and coordinate the clearance of Capital WIP balances ensuring balances are kept to a minimum.
* Responsible for the management, accounting and banking of petty cash on site, ensuring group controls are applied.
* Responsible for the accounting and audit of the Social Club Accounts.
* Ensure the timely preparation and accurate reporting of QK accounts. In particular this involves

o Weekly review of P&L - including issuing price variance & contribution details to other sites

o Ensure timely completion of intersite shipments & receipts reconciliations and journals.

o Compiling, reconciling & monitoring stock reports and issuing relevant details to other sites.

o Overseeing sales & purchases invoicing for France

o Month end balance sheet review (mainly stocks, intercompany prepayments & accruals and GRNI)

o Month end reporting to Central Finance (balance sheet reconciliations)

* Identify areas for improvements within processes & procedures carried out by the finance department.
* Help maintain an effective, integrated management accounting and financial reporting systems for the sites.
* Keep abreast of developing situations and techniques in respect of finance disciplines including accounting standards.
* Help carry out exercises as finance may require from time to time.
* Maintain a good working relationship which is consistent with the finance department principles of delivering a high quality service.
* Proactively work with buyers to reduce and clear Docuware items. Looking to identify and rectify route causes, reducing reasons for queries ending up in Docuware in the first place.
* To work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within their area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

* Part Qualified, / AAT or qualified by experience.

* Experience working in a manufacturing environment preparing weekly and monthly management accounts.

* Good interpersonal skills and motivated to deliver a proactive accounting service

* Advanced user spreadsheet skills

* Strong systems skills and relevant experience using manufacturing ERP systems

* Comfortable working within both an office and factory environment.

* Flexible with working out of more than one site

* Trustworthy to work on confidential matters with the utmost discretion

* Flexible with regards to working hours
