Science teacher Job Specification

A hard-working and focused Science teacher is sought, who will provide commitment and drive through teaching, planning and learning within the school. The Science department is looking for a teacher who will bring high-quality teaching, determination and drive to the school in order to maintain and build on the excellent teaching practises and results of the department and school.

Science Department

The department consists of 8 full-time teachers of Science, including the Deputy Head teacher, who is a former HOD. The teaching of the department has always been of an extremely high standard, as have the GCSE and A2 results. The school has recently restructured the department after internal and external promotions, and there are strong prospects for career advancement for newly-appointed staff.

The teaching timetable for the successful applicant will be exclusively Science teaching, with equal ratio for KS3 and GCSE teaching. There will also be opportunity for possibly AS and A2 teaching if desired after the initial year with the department.

The School

The school is a popular and well-regarded centre of learning in a very attractive area of Nottinghamshire. There are numerous transport links via road and public transport. The school buildings are less than 6 years old, and include 9 recently refurbished Science laboratories and a central Science preparation area.

The school has recently been judged 'Good' by OFSTED, and the school's SLT are determined to push towards a higher grading, through vigorous staff recruitment.
