An enthusiastic and energetic English specialist is required to join a team of 8 English teachers in an OFSTED 'Good' school in Nottingham for September. The successful candidate will be expected to have a clear passion for positive, interventionist teaching, and a whole-hearted approach to novel and creative teaching methods. The teaching team in English is a strong group of specialist practitioners, and have a collegiate and close-knit team ethos.

The English teaching role requires a resilient, knowledgeable and creative English teacher or NQT to boost their successful team of 8 full-time specialists in September 2017. The team is highly-regarded in the school, and has built up a successful presence in the school through high-impact teaching and creative activities and events in and out of the classroom. Exam performance has been steadily improving, and the HOD and SLT are constantly looking for strong teaching staff who could drive their department to greater levels of excellence.

As a full-time teacher of English, you will have a teaching load of 80% with allocated CPD and PPA time. The role requires teaching classes from Key Stage 3 through to GCCSE, along with being a full-time form tutor. The successful applicant will be expected to plan and contribute to departmental Schemes of Work and Programmes of Study, especially new ideas for raising underachievement at GCSE level.

This large secondary school is situated in a pleasant part of Nottinghamshire and has been extended recently to boast a new Learning Centre and School Library. The English department is situated in a new block of the school, and has close and ready access to the new facilities in the Learning Centre. Each teacher has their own teaching room, and also use of an English departmental office.

The school has a strong presence and links with the local community, and a good provision for extra-curricular and sports activities. Teaching staff are always encouraged to make a contribution to this area of school life.
