It is Snaps pleasure to be working with Anthony, 9 who lives near Birmingham with his parents and two younger brothers. Anthony has Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and a visual impairment so will require maximum care; however, he is ferociously independent so just as importantly, you will help and support him in reaching his full potential. He has an amazing energy, he is alert and incredibly engaging. He is extremely communicative, with his vocabulary expanding daily, (lots more information on Anthonys ongoing progress when you reach Snap interview stage). When I visited Anthony, the first thing I saw was him racing through from the kitchen in his wheelchair with a wicked giggle in tow! Anthony is thriving at school and he loves going, he enjoys all areas of sensory and creative play, swimming, going to Beavers and he has just started trampolining which he absolutely loves!

You will be joining an already, loyal and committed team. This is a busy house but an organised house where the team work as one, both with Anthony AND his brothers, (you are not just working within a team but also within the heart of a family). You will be working very closely with both parents, especially mum. As assistant team leader, you will attend all meetings called by parents or case manager, in an emergency or illness be available to stand in for other members of staff, undertake related duties, for example compiling monthly rotas, provide daily written handover records, monitor medical and general supplies, liaise with external agencies, including school, as necessary and assist with light domestic duties related to Anthony e.g. tidying of his room/bathroom/laundry and cleaning of specific equipment. No previous assistant team leader experience is necessary but you will be resourceful, self-motivated and calm, to deal competently with any challenges that arise when working within a small care team. Anthony has reached a pivotal stage in his development and with the continued and relevant input he can only keep bounding ahead so longevity of the team is vital.

The hours may vary each week, but average out to 36 per week. Shifts include: Mornings, 06.00am to 09.00am and then after school, 4.00pm to 8.00pm and 4.00pm to 10.00pm, with the flexibility of working some weekend days, (10 hour shifts), sleep-ins, travel with the family and occasional additional hours in order to join in activities.

There will be induction and training for Anthonys specific personal care needs, and assistant Team Leader duties plus mandatory training including moving and handling and first aid training. You will receive frequent supervision and the opportunity to develop your knowledge of Anthonys needs and to be able to maintain high standards of practice. A confident driver is essential for this post and the family travel annually so a valid passport too please!

If you are looking for a new and interesting start to 2017 please give Janet a call who had the pleasure of meeting, Anthony and his two very charming brothers.
