My client, due to a recent restructure, are looking to appoint a new Financial Accounting Manager. They are looking for someone to head up the technical finance functions, advising the CFO, Head of Financial Control and senior business management. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the provision of financial support that allows for effective decisions to be made by the managers within the business. Duties will include: Developing and implementing best practice accounting policies and procedures in line with IFRSUnderstanding the broad framework of regulation, its impact on the business and the exacting demands on financial control and reportingCompletion of all external financial reporting to regulatory bodies, shareholders, and other stakeholders, including responsibility for relationships with the group's accounting and tax advisorsKey involvement in bond issuances and refinancing by group entities as appropriateThe successful delivery of specific projects and initiatives across the Finance function as allocated by the CFO or Head of Financial Control The main accountabilities of the role include: Managing the Financial Accounting Team, comprising part and fully qualified accountants Support effective succession planning through staff retention and developmentPlanning, co-ordinating and delivering the statutory reporting process. Deliver the annual statutory reporting and half-yearly bank and bond holder requirementsWorking with third party advisors to ensure the company and its group companies are tax compliantWorking with third party advisors to develop and implement best practice financial accounting and reporting policies and procedures. Maintaining the Financial Policy manualMaximising the opportunity to efficiently leverage the reporting functionality of SAPSupport the Head of Financial Control in ensuring that adequate controls are embedded in the business and are complied withProviding technical support to the Finance team and senior operational business management as requiredCo-ordinating technical training to key members of the Finance communityWorking with the CFO, Head of Financial Control and Treasury and Strategic Finance Manager during periods of group bond issuance and refinancing The successful candidate should ideally be a qualified accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA or overseas equivalent). 3-4 years post qualification experience; preferably Big-4 qualifiedExperience at a group level in a FTSE 250 companyExperience of managing teams and a demonstrable track record of staff developmentIn depth knowledge of IFRS and statutory consolidation proceduresProven experience of developing relationships and working with a network of individuals across a large organisationExperience of working successfully with external advisors (auditors, tax advisors etc.)Knowledge of tax accounting preferable, as is knowledge of SAP and reporting toolsMature communication skills; a proven ability to organise and effectively prioritise workloads Our client is a market leader that has a reputation for nurturing and developing their employees and providing long term career opportunities.
