Person Specification for Director of Science

The successful applicant will be a dynamic proven Head of Science who seeks greater responsibility or an existing career-minded Assistant Headteacher ready for a new environment who has worked in a leadership capacity before. The governors want to recruit a senior leader with the classroom practice that will form the grounding of their respect as a leader. You will arrive with the determination and steel to show others around you what it takes to make a difference across the whole school. We want to meet senior leaders who can lead from the front by modelling outstanding lessons to the teachers within their department.

About the Director of Science role

As a Director of Science your role will involve you playing a crucial part in the future success of the whole school as-well as leading the Science faculty to new heights of success. Your leadership duties will involve working closely with the other Senior Leadership Team members to build and implement planned structures to continue the success of the school and push the school to new heights within the county. You will be leading the successful Science Department that has seen an impressive raise in results over the past 2 years, it will be your main role to identify the needs for improvement within the staff team and work closely with the Head of Science to ensure teachers are given all the training and development required to ensure they're delivering `Outstanding` lessons to the best of their ability. CPD is very important to the school and as part of the Senior Leadership Team you will be given additional future leadership training allowing you to progress your career to a Deputy Headship position in the future.
