Electrical maintenance engineer, public sector institution, Temporary-to-permanent Band 5 Electrical Maintenance job in Surrey, GBP16-19 per hour in an NHS hospital

Your new role
You'll work in an in-house maintenance team, undertaking a technical role in the maintenance, operation and installation of a range of building services, equipment and systems with electrical bias but applying basic skills in other trade fields as required. You'll take a team-based approach in providing quality maintenance service whilst supporting the hospital in providing excellent patient care. You'll work Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week, participate in an on-call rota as well as undertaking occasional overtime, with a view to taking a permanent position

What you'll need to succeed
You'll have completed a recognised advanced craft certificate, for example City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2, and BS th Edition Wiring Regulations. You'll have extensive relevant building services experience, ideally in an NHS or healthcare background, and be able to fault find, read drawings and understand technical manuals. You'll be able to work with electrical systems including Mains LV switchgear, plant systems, controls systems, final circuit wiring systems and accessories and fire alarm systems. You'll also have a working familiarity with mechanical systems such as Steam raising plant, calorifier pumping sets, central heating systems, gas boilers, air conditioning systems, plumbing systems and refrigeration equipment.
You'll have a strong work ethic and be capable of working independently as well as part of a team, and will be comfortable with and aware of the demands of working a customer-facing role. You'll be able to provide full NHS compliance and be prepared to undergo a CRB check if necessary for the patient-facing aspect of the role.

You'll be offered a temporary-to-permanent position paying GBP16-19 per hour on the temp side and then up to GBP34k once permanent, with the intention always being to consolidate the role permanently after a short temp period.
