EO Executives have been retained by a global listed private equity firm, to recruit a Group Financial Controller for their HQ based in Sydney. This role represents a unique opportunity to join a highly ambitious and acquisitive business but who can deploy a long-term business strategy. The business has been on a hugely successful journey and are looking to continue that growth across the globe and this role will be an integral part of that future journey benefiting from a share in the upside of the value created.

Established c.10 years ago our client has enjoyed a very strong growth trajectory which has intensified significantly over the last 24 months. This growth is set to continue exponentially over the next 5 years and as a result the infrastructure is starting to creek and breakages are emerging. Our client has identified several integral roles in the organisation where they need to attract top talent.

Group Financial Controller.
Reporting into the Group CFO the key objective of the Group FC role is to enhance the reporting capability of the group and foster collaboration between the operating companies within the portfolio.


- Establishing a strong financial control environment suitable to support the growth strategy of the business.
- Timely and accurate preparation of Group results including multi- currency consolidations; reviewing and understanding variances to budgets and forecasts
- Work closely with leadership team members and heads of functions to become a key business partner to help drive profitability and a greater financial awareness
- Implement and maintain financial policies and timetables throughout the Group
- Cash forecasting - including consolidation of forecasts from multiple business units, treasury and working capital
- Preparation of statutory group consolidated financial statements
- All aspect of tax compliance and planning
- Lead any M&A integration activities and the structure necessary to support new strategic lines of business e.g. major deals.
- Primary day to day contact in the Group Annual Audit process
- Involvement in the group forecasting and budgeting reporting cycles
- Preparation of information requests for the various stakeholders
- Liaison with external advisors, shareholders and banks as required

The successful candidate will ideally be a big 4 trained chartered Accountant with experience of corporate finance. You will currently be in a Group Controller role preferably working within a VC/PE business or a large plc dealing with complexity. You could be an Australian national looking at returning home or a candidate looking to relocate.

Person specification:

- ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent
- M&A or corporate finance exposure
- 10 years post qualified experience
- Strong character and ability to influence stakeholders
- Ability to relocate to Sydney, Australia
