A leading Biotechnology company who are focused on the development of Affimers as an antibody mimetic platform are looking to recruit a Scientist in Phage Display.

The Role

As the scientist in Phage Display you'll design and carry out phage display selections, screening and characterisation of outputs in order to identify lead Affimer therapeutic candidates. You'll be part of a small dynamic team and a flexible approach to working with other teams and new technologies.
• Designing and performing target antigen quality control
• Biotinylating target proteins and fully characterising the product for functional activity
• Design and generate random and/or rationally designed DNA display libraries for both na??ve and affinity maturation
• Execute manual or automated phage display panning against protein targets
• Characterize phage derived Affimer candidates hits via SPR/BLI (Biacore or Octet) ELISA and cell based assays
• Sequence phage candidates and sub-clone Affimers into the appropriate protein expression system for small scale production and purification and further characterisation
• Design and execute affinity maturation library build and selections

You

Ideally, you'll have a MSc or BSc in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry and gained experience working in the laboratory since graduating in the fields of molecular biology, protein engineering or protein-protein interactions within Biotechnology or Biopharmaceuticals.

You'll be able to demonstrate excellent aseptic techniques, Microbiology Techniques, Manipulating DNA and creating expression constructs. A good understanding of characterisation protein-protein interactions of a variety of assays (ELISA, cell based assays, Biacore/Octet) and experience of recombinant E.coli expression systems, protein purification and characterisation (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot).

Phage Display is Essential.

Salary and Benefits

You'll join a growing company with lots of development opportunities who pay very competitive salaries along with a generous benefits package.
