The Financial Accountant role is based in Northampton where much of the board are based including the CEO and FD. The financial accounts team are currently looking to take advantage of opportunities to improve processes around the business. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to make an impact in this highly visible role.Your role will include the following:• Ensure all applicable balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a timely basis. Implement robust financial controls across RSR, ensuring Group Accounting Policies are adhered to.• Take the lead in understanding and documenting key business processes and aiding the team in creating accounting process documentation.• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of RSR-wide journals• Drive timely and accurate management reporting for RSR Central Support business divisions available for departmental manager review. Deal with ad hoc queries and show confidence in delivering effective face to face support to senior staff.• Support the statutory accounting and audit processes.• Manage (and take ownership of) selected financial accounting activities, including VAT Returns, Property lease management, Corporation Tax analysis, PAYE Returns, Cash flow analysis and Fixed Asset Register.• Operate as a key team member meeting personal work objectives expected of a financial accountant completing all work and projects to the highest standard. • Maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders such as: other finance departments, IT, Marketing, Property, Procurement, external auditors, ONS, international operations and HMRC.What does the ideal candidate look like: • You will be newly qualified/nearly qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA)• You might be a graduate with a degree in finance or accounting OR have a strong academic background• You will have a strong financial accounts background and proven track record in a finance environment• You will ideally have experience of the accurate preparation of balance sheets and their reconciliation• You will be able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure• You will have familiarity of key finance principles, legislation and standards and their application (UK GAAP)• You will have demonstrated business systems experience preferred, including Oracle • You will have strong demonstrable Excel skills• You will be driven to improve processes around the business• You will be an excellent communicator and keen to interact with different people and non-finance staff• You will be eager to get involved in tasks and progress within the team• You will be able to fit in with the team's friendly culture• You will be results orientated with desire to 'see things through'Reed Specialist Recruitment is an equal opportunities employer.
