This exceptional company with an enviable market position based upon unique niche products have an opportunity for a Financial Controller to join their long established business. The company turned over 8 million last year and are set to exceed this figure for the next financial year. The successful person will work closely with operational leaders across the business to improve the credibility and relevance of the commercial reporting and financial commentary. Your input will improve budgeting and forecasting with you overseeing the day to day activities of the accounting team and ensuring the companies accounting / controlling functions are organised, efficient and accurate. The business has ambitious plans and as such they are investing heavily in all areas. They are looking for highly capable, driven and ambitious individuals able to add value and assist in their growth journey. It will be a challenging but highly rewarding role for the right individual. Your dedication and enthusiasm will be rewarded with autonomy to build up the role with your MD, who is very open minded and welcomes fresh ideas to make process improvements. The successful applicant will be fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with proven experience working in an 'end-to-end' Financial Controller role within a SME environment. As well being a technically strong accountant, you will possess strong communication skills with the ability partner across the business and challenge the norm. Duties and responsibilities Manage and mentor a team of people Producing in collaboration with the company's auditors, audited annual accounts Providing accurate and timely financial information eg management accounts Providing financial reporting on monthly management accounts Maintaining and operating the accounting software (SAGE) Reconciliation and preparation of VAT returns General office duties as required Improvement of supplier terms and accounts Job profit and loss reporting Stock reconciliation and stock takes Sales Ledger chasing and management of debtor days Fixed costs/overheads costs annual budgeting and forecasting Client financial performance reporting Health and Safety management and reviews The ideal candidate will - You will ideally have a professional accounting qualification and relevant experience at management accounting level You will enjoy partnering with the wider business Communication skills will be key - you will need to build effective relationships across all areas of the group You will be naturally proactive in your approach and enjoy improving systems and processes You will be able to coach, mentor and manage others Experience at board level meetings and discussions
