My client's community School is a smaller-than-average primary school; pupils are from a range of backgrounds, with an average proportion of pupils known to be eligible for extra funding (pupil premium). The school is based in a couple of miles outside the town centre and serves the local community.

They are looking to appoint a disciplined Primary Teacher looking to work with their year 3 class for the new academic year. The position is full time and permanent and is ideally suited to experienced teachers but they would also consider an NQT if they have performed well on their teacher training placements (graded as 'Good' or 'Outstanding') The Head realises there is a lot of work to be done in the school and so require a teacher that isn't afraid to knuckle down in helping raise standards in numeracy, literacy and pastoral care.

Although some teaching is good and some is outstanding, teaching requires some improvement because it does not always promote good achievement. Because of this the appointed Year 3 teacher needs to be extremely motivated in wanting to promote best practice and totally dedicated to raising attainment. With the right teachers in place there is no reason that the school can't continue to develop and achieve a 'Good' rating the next time Ofsted visit.

Maths has been highlighted as a particular area needing improvement so if this is a strength or specialism then the school will be able to fully utilise your ability in this area.

This position isn't for everyone and those only wishing to work in an 'Outstanding' school may not relish the challenge. However, for those not afraid of a challenge, and for those that are looking to make a real difference, it's a great opportunity to be part of a future success
