Finance Assistant (GBP25,000 to GBP35,000 depending on experience)

Someone who can take control and look after the finance tasks whilst letting our MD focus on what he does best. The role will suit talented and committed individuals who are looking to develop their career with a busy and rapidly expanding agency. What does the job entail? Respond to contractor queries about payment terms and invoicingCheck contractor's timesheets and invoices are accurate in relation to hours worked / fee rateProcess payments to contractors within our payment terms timeframePayment of other suppliersPrepare and submit client invoices and chase overdue paymentsWork with clients to resolve any invoice queriesSubmit client invoices to factoring company portalResolve errors and process credit notes on factoring company portalWork with and provide information to the external accountant to facilitate quarterly financial reporting and HMRC payments and returnsOversee the implementation of timesheet management systemLiaise with payroll bureau and make monthly salary paymentsProcess employee expensesCalculate employee commission payments dueBank reconciliationMonthly financial reportingBudgeting and forecastingInput financial data onto systems and spreadsheetsMake improvements to processes and systemsWork flexibly and undertake other general administrative tasks as required What qualifications and experience are ideal? Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)Previous experience of working in a similar standalone finance role What skills and competencies are essential? Broad range of practical accounting skills and knowledgeHighly numerate and able to analyse financial data and draw meaningful conclusions and recommend actionsAdaptable and comfortable working in a small team environment where flexibility is essentialOrganised and pays attention to detailAble to work on own initiative and take responsibility for own workload as well as responding to requests from others'Can do' attitudeGood IT skills including advanced ExcelLogical and analyticalExcellent written and spoken English.
