Our client is an international organisation who innovates new technology for customers around the globe. One of the UK sites which offers both research & development and manufacturing has an opportunity for a Product Safety Steward. This diverse and challenging role will provide technical assistance for regulatory compliance and co-ordination and administration of samples and information. The other key tasks will be to manage and analyse the information relating the research & development projects to provide information to senior managers on budgets, project progress and allocation of resources.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Product Safety Steward will have an ability to understand the technical issues involved with the products, raw materials and the research projects. Key skills will be to understand and respond to customer requests for information on, for example, substances of very high concern, RoHS and conflict minerals is required. Gathering and manipulation of management information for the effective running of R & D function. Examples include analysis of where R&D resources are deployed, linking information from across the organisation to ensure that business cases are valid and represent the business current view. This role will also include the creation, development and roll out of new systems for this purpose.

Regulatory Compliance:
• Act as advocate within company to establish new systems to ensure product Safety compliance.
• Support the production of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as required
• Administration management and collation of RoHS, Substances of concern and Conflict minerals

Management/Administrator Information:
• Analysis of where R&D resources are deployed
• Aggregation and collation of business cases
• Management of administration of external collaboration including NDA records for the department.

Candidate Profile:
• Degree in Scientific Discipline, e.g. Chemistry, Physics or Material Science.
• Experience in managing Product Safety issues
• Experience of the regulatory framework for chemical and material within Europe and US
• Good Computer Literacy (Competent in all Microsoft packages)
