Our client has a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Technical Services Manager at their R&D centre developing performance and speciality polymers in order to support leadership positions in many market segments, including coatings, construction, textiles and paper. This particular role is supporting the supply and distribution of a poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) into the PVC market.

Role and Responsibilities
• Provide direct technical support to customers and handle all customer enquiries for specific product lines covering all aspects such as product specification, design issues and complaints and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Liaise with production/sales teams to resolve queries and ensure effective communication of outcome.
• Serve as technical and applications expert, enhancing knowledge and providing greater understanding of products often via in depth training, within the company and to customers/distributors in the area.
• Keep abreast of market developments and competitive products through internal and external sources, relating to how products perform, can be applied or tested and assess how this can be used to add value to the business.
• In conjunction with the Global Technical Services Manager, define, initiate and lead projects in existing or new market segments, using the stage gate process, with the aim of developing new business in line with business strategy.
• Liaise with external contacts and internal operations/technical teams to ensure effective implementation.
• Ensure effective communication of project outcomes to stakeholders.
• Develop new business, understanding customer needs, offering technical solutions, identifying and progressing opportunities to expand the product ranges and introduce new products in support of developing additional business.
• Participate in new business development strategy in coordination with Global Technical Services Manager in order to increase gross margin and revenue for the business segment.
• Define and guide the practical technical service work programme in PVC market segment, in cooperation with Technical Head of Department, to ensure work is progressed to meet customer or development timescales and objectives.
• Ensure accomplishment of all business activities in the area of responsibility in line with relevant SHE-regulations to achieve SHE-compliance in accordance with internal, contractual and legal regulations.
• Travelling to existing and potential customers globally (which could be up to 50% of the working time), either independently or together with the sales team/agents.

Minimum Requirements
• Educated to degree level or higher in Science, preferably Chemistry or equivalent
• Must have previous experience in a customer facing roles, either in technical sales, technical support or technical services
• Applicants must have the right to work in the UK
