Milton Keynes College are working in partnership with HMP Birmingham to put education at the heart of the prison system.

We are looking to recruit an experienced programme manager / curriculum leader to enhance develop and lead the curriculum and delivery of our personal and social development (PSD), Employability, Business Art and Interpersonal skills courses.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated programme manager / curriculum leader to deliver learner success, through effective leadership within our social development programmes. This vacancy would suit a highly motivated programme manager/ curriculum manager that specialises in PSD and has a positive can do approach to education and the success of their students. The ideal candidate will have had plenty of experience and success their PSD subject area. Experience of managing a team would be seen as an advantage.

Milton Keynes College operate on three sites within HMP Birmingham, East Education, West Education, and G Wing Education, offering education to both mainstream and vulnerable prisoners.

The education department is made up of a 6 person management team, overseeing 3 strand areas, Functional Skills, Vocational Training and Personal and Social Development. We offer courses in Functional Skills both Maths and English, ESOL, IT, Business, Hospitality, Barbering, Sports and Fitness, Employability Skills, Kick Start in Business, Art, Hospitality, Mentoring, Interpersonal Skills, Equality and Diversity, Electrical, Bench Joinery, Plastering, Car Valeting, Waste Management and Industrial Cleaning. We offer courses from Pre Entry right through to Level 2.

Education Programmes are developed in partnership with the prison to offer a responsive and relevant curriculum, which includes work experience and work opportunities within the Establishment.

As a successful candidate you will have:

* A degree or equivalent vocational qualification in PSD subject area.
* A teaching qualification (QTLS as appropriate).
* Assessor/Verifier Awards (desirable).
* Teaching/training experience in PDS, along with employability and, up-to-date knowledge of these subject areas and employer requirements.
* Understanding of the necessary employability skills required in the current UK economy.
* Evidence of providing high quality effective programmes leading to outstanding success.
* Experience of data analysis.
* Experience of identifying, developing and sharing resources focused on teaching and learning.
* Experience of working with students who may have little experience of education and training (desirable).
* Knowledge of current relevant initiatives within the Offender Learning.
* The requirement of this role is to work across the whole prison estate, on all wings where education is delivered.

Location: HMP Birmingham

Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: GBP28,940 - GBP34,327 per annum
