We are expanding our Cloud Delivery Group and are recruiting into a number of posts within the Revenue & Customs Digital Technology Service in Telford.

Role Requirements:

The Cloud Solution Architect (IT Vacancies, Support) role is within the Network Design and Implementation team and provides technical direction for projects, reporting to and directly supporting the Head of Design and Implementation.

Assessment of project's technical feasibility, as well as implementation risks. Responsibility for designing and implementing a project's network architecture including the structure of a system, its interfaces and the principles of the overriding business goals and estate security.

The role holder will work concurrently on several projects, providing a high level of technical and project governance.

Key Responsibilities of the Cloud Solution Architect (IT Vacancies, Support):
•Provide technical leadership and direction across delivery streams
•Be a SME for a number of key Cloud and Network technologies
•Have wide experience of technical product selections
•Validate project requirements to ensure they fit with overall strategy integration for stability and supportability.
•Display expert knowledge relating to infrastructure including, but not solely all, STP, static/OSPF/BGP routing, route-controls, access-lists, firewalls, L3/4/7 load-balancing, multicast, NAT, encryption, IPv4/6
•Understand, to expert level, different Network technologies such as:
•Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Load-balancers, Site selectors, WAN Optimisers ,VPN terminations
•Document, Design and Implement Architecture to exacting Government standards
•Detailed knowledge of GCHQ NCSC guidance documents and templates
•Expert knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure (AWS and/or Azure), including but not limited to IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and Cloud Integration to on-premises solutions
•Offer leading edge technical solutions in both Cloud and on-premises Infrastructure projects
•Lead teams in high level escalations to problem resolution

The Cloud Solution Architect (IT Vacancies, Support) will also have:
•Possess expert Protocol understanding and troubleshooting skills in hybrid environments - TCP/UDP/ICMP/ESP
•Ability to solve large, complex technical problems across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud environments).
•Ability to handle complex technical concepts e.g.
•Good coding skills - PowerShell and JSON
•Understand SDN concepts and have leading edge skills in deploying Infrastructure as a Code
•Advanced routing protocols and concepts - OSPF, BGP, route-maps, prefix lists, distribution lists
•Advanced load-balancing skills - layer 7, cookies, SSL
•Ability to understand and implement solutions to client requirements.
•Contact with vendors re technical solutions e.g.
•Ability to work with and lead 3rd parties to deliver results under extreme pressure to exacting timescales and standards

Technology desirables:
•Broad understanding of the complexities of an enterprise network estate
•Excellent network design techniques/processes.
•Rigorous application of infrastructure patterns and implementation techniques/processes.
•Understanding of project management processes.
•Ability to understand & interpret project requirements and translate into robust network solutions.
•Good understanding of wider technologies and how they interact with the network e.g.
•Active Directory, Group Policy
•Office 365
•Azure AD and associated services (ADFS, AD Connect, WAP etc.)
•AWS (Integration with on-premises AD, Roles and Permissions etc.)
•Good understanding how applications or systems intend to utilise the network and how this might influence the network topology or negatively impact network performance for others e.g.
•Software delivery systems

The Cloud Solution Architect (IT Vacancies, Support) would ideally have the following qualifications:
•BSc, BEng or equivalent experience
•Technically certified at pinnacle of vendor certification i.e. CCIE
•Peer-recognised as expert in networks
•TOGAF certified

Person Specification:
